Drift Limits Present - 75

A Celebration of Bovingdon Airfield and those who served in World War II

Friday 8th May 2020 - 10:00 to 16:00

Welcome to 75!

A VE Day 2020 Celebration of Bovingdon Airfield, USAAF Station 112, RAF Bovingdon and all that served here.

Bovingdon Airfield was first used by the USAAF in August 1942; given over to Civilian Airline use in 1946 and then shared use by the USAF and RAF until being termed ‘Disused’ when military activity ceased with the departure of the RAF in 1968.

The land was divided, bought by multiple land owners and used for different purposes, including flying and filming.
Many blockbuster movies have been filmed on part of the site and they continue to be so.

More importantly, Drift Limits arrived in 2010 and started operating driving experiences shortly after on part of the site, where we invite you to come on the 8th of May 2020 to commemorate and celebrate!
The Past: those who worked here, served here and fought for our freedoms.
The Present: Local companies, groups, organisations and all local people.
The Future: New life, independent traders and the future plans we have for this incredible site… all while raising money for local charities!

All money raised by Drift Limits will be donated to charity and a portion of profits from vendors will be donated too.

’75’ is a full, site wide celebration with:

Full site decorations – Period Music – Dancing – Performing Arts – A Classic Car and Military Vehicle Show –  Supercar and Race Car Passenger Rides – Historical Presentations and Exhibitions – A Craft Market full of local artists of many types – A licenced Bar serving Craft Ales and Gins – A Hog Roast – Bubble Waffles – Crepes, Ice-Cream Shakes, Burgers, Hot-Dogs, Vegan & Gluten Free Food and a whole lot more.

We can’t wait to get started and can’t wait for you all to be there!

Oh wait, there’s something very important to say.

That’s right, this event is 100% free to attend for all visitors and exhibitors.

As this is a charity event, Drift Limits will be donating all profits from Passenger Experiences on the day to our two supported charities: Community Action Dacorum and Willow Foundation. Our Vendors will also be donating a portion of their profits to them.

What we ask is that you consider donating, dropping what you can into the collection buckets on site. Simply go see one of our charity marshals and they’ll be happy to help!

What’s more, you could get involved with the event… so keep reading!

Please note that this map is subject to change.

Classic Car, Rare Car, Modified and Special Vehicle owners of Great Britain,
75 wants you!

Due to drastic demand from our customers, we’re opening up this event to all types of rare and special vehicles!

On this historic day, on this historic site, we’re including a car show like no other… Located on our B72 Bomber Circuit, on the runway that bombers flew from in WWII, including famous planes like the Memphis Belle.

We’ve got up to 120 extra large 5m wide slots to offer on our circuit, a ground-breaking number of spaces and we want you to use them!

Show and shine your vehicles in your own pitch, set up a picnic and relax in the sunshine on this hallowed ground, remembering those who flew away in those giant steel birds in hopes of the ‘freedom for tomorrow’ that we enjoy today.

If you’d like to be part of this, spaces are limited so send in your details and reserve your slot today. You don’t need to pre-reserve, we’ll be accepting anyone that does arrive, however if you don’t pre-allocate then you may get turned away!

If you’re part of a car club and would like to reserve a special number of slots (including a slot for a gazebo or club stand) please email us directly to enquire.

Simply send an email to kane@driftlimits.co.uk to arrange.

GDPR note: we will NOT sign up you to a mailing list, your minimal details (name, car type) will only be used to secure your pitch on the day.

Creative Artists of Great Britain,
75 wants you!

We’ve got a section of our runway reserved just for you.

We want Artists of all kinds.

Oil Painters. Watercolour Artists, Caricature Artists, Sketchers, Sculpters, Sewists, Knitters, Glassworkers, Jewllers, Florists, Candlemakers, Writers, Bakers…

Any medium you work in, whatever it may be, we want you.

We’ve got 30, extra large 5m wide x 10m deep bays for you to use as you wish! If you want to set up an installation, gallery, a store, a workstation or simply sit on a chair and recite poetry, that space is yours to release your creativity from.

All tables, chairs, gazebos or whatever else you want to set up must be supplied by yourself. There’s no electrical supply so if you need it, bring your own batteries please!

This is a family friendly event of course, so keep that in mind.

If you’d like to be part of this day, we have a limited number of spaces available for our creative market.

Simply send an email to kane@driftlimits.co.uk for consideration.

GDPR note: We will not sign up you to a mailing list, your details will only be used to secure your pitch on the day.

“But what does it cost?”

Yes, you read that right and we’re completely serious.

We’re not charging for our space, we just want you to say that you want it, then turn up and use it.

To book a place for our market or a priority slot on our track for your car, simply send an email to kane@driftlimits.co.uk

We’d appreciate it if you popped a little bit into one of our supported charity’s pots of course, whatever you can spare.

We’re raising money for local charities, including COMMUNITY ACTION DACORUM and THE WILLOW FOUNDATION.

Important Notice regarding Covid-19

We are currently continuing all planning for the event with a continuing ‘can-do’ attitude.

Should any government legislation or regulation be passed that means we are unable to operate this event, we will immediately advise all of those who have signed up to participate in this event and update our website accordingly.

All practices regarding hygiene, health and safety will continue as they are now, with exceptional attention being taken all around site.
Being on a huge, wide open old airfield, there is much fresh air and a large open space to walk around and ensure good social distancing.

We may decide to amend the spacing a little for the event, however rest assured, it’ll be a great day out.

We look forward to seeing you on the 8th of May to celebrate more than one Victory in England.
