While the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is an engineering masterpiece built for the road, the 911 GT3 Cup car takes performance to an entirely different level, engineered exclusively for the track. Designed for Porsche’s Carrera Cup racing series, this purebred competition machine sacrifices road-going refinement for outright speed and precision.
Compared to the GT3 RS, the Cup car is lighter, more aggressive, and far more focused. A full roll cage, polycarbonate windows, and extensive carbon fibre components strip unnecessary weight, while fully adjustable race suspension and a lower ride height ensure razor-sharp handling. Unlike the RS, which still maintains road compliance, the Cup car rides on stiffer, motorsport-grade suspension and 18” centre-lock wheels wrapped in slick racing tyres (when weather allows!), delivering significantly more grip and control at the limit.
Aerodynamics are taken to extremes, with a massive rear wing and deep front splitter generating immense downforce, making the Cup car even more stable at high speeds. Braking performance is also superior, with race-spec Brembo brakes providing relentless stopping power, far surpassing even the RS’s road-going ceramic setup.
Under the bonnet, the naturally aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six revs to an ear-piercing 8,500rpm, channelling around 510bhp through a six-speed sequential gearbox. Unlike the GT3 RS’s PDK transmission, the Cup car’s paddle-shifted sequential gearbox delivers lightning-fast, no-lift shifts optimised for racing. The result? Faster lap times, sharper handling, and a raw, unfiltered connection to the tarmac.
